STEP
Results
Law
enforcement from around the province held a two-day Selective Traffic
Enforcement Program (STEP) in Moose Jaw on Sept. 14 and 15. Police were
enforcing all traffic violations but were especially focused on impaired
driving, speeding, distracted driving/cellphone use and seatbelt
safety.
Police
issued tickets for the following offences:
- 1 impaired driving-related offence;
- 19 tickets for using a cellphone while driving;
- 36 speeding tickets.
Car
seat technicians also checked 129 seatbelts/child safety seats and police issued
72 tickets for inappropriate or no seatbelt/child safety seat, and gave away
seven child safety seats as encouragement to always buckle up children
properly.
SGI
reminds motorists that police are paying special attention to impaired driving throughout October, as well as
distracted driving, speeding and seatbelt use.
