Town Hall Meeting and Health file update - Preeceville's Main Street with the Mayor Garth Harris for Thursday July 21st, 2016 8:35 am

This week we focus on: Town Hall Meeting and Health file update

My speaking notes:

Wow

3rd Doctor Big change since our last meeting on May 30th

There are now unused appointments at the clinic so no more 6 week wait.

What can we do as a community? What would be a win?

The Helipad is underway - land bought - Trees being cleared next.

Hospital loan paid off.

Fuel trailer on stand by.

Dr.’s House - We are in contact with the realtor and new Doctor (what are his needs)

Second Doctor is looking to buy. We will also contact when we have her contact info.

Fourth Doctor - This name came from the citizens. Thanks

Letter from Minister of RRH-Greg Ottenbreit

"As I committed to in our meeting, the name you put forward was contacted by a ministry official. The doctor indicated that he has already completed paperwork for Alberta and British Columbia; however, we did connect him with the appropriate agency to complete an application should he wish to pursue any available opportunities in Saskatchewan. That agency is sask docs and I have asked that they contact the physician to ensure he understands the process.

There has been good progress made on this file. Since our meeting occurred, we have added and funded a third physician position. I understand that Sunrise Health Region will continue to work on plans for acute care services in Preeceville with the expectation that a more firm plan will be established in the fall after consultation with the new physicians that are scheduled to join the community. It is important for care providers to be involved in the discussions to determine how services are structured and delivered.

I appreciate the work that the community has undertaken and your continued advocacy for healthcare.

If you need anything else, please don’t hesitate to contact my office directly"

Trent Wotherspoon the Saskatchewan NDP leader also attended the meeting and answered questions from the floor. I had a chance to meet Trent before the meeting and show him our town. He was impressed with our health center and all the work we have done.

From the floor, people had many good questions and there were lots of thanks given out to the whole town.

Good work everyone and have a good summer!

Saskatchewan's Free Fishing Weekend is July 9-10 - Preeceville's Main Street with the Mayor Garth Harris for Thursday July 7th, 2016 8:35 am

This week we focus on: Saskatchewan's Free Fishing Weekend is July 9-10

"If you have always wanted to try fishing as a new outdoor activity, your opportunity is right around the corner.

Saskatchewan’s annual summer free fishing weekend is July 9 and 10, when residents and visitors can fish in Saskatchewan waters without an angling licence.

“Sport fishing is a popular outdoor activity enjoyed throughout our province,” Environment Minister Herb Cox said. “Free fishing weekend is an excellent opportunity for families, friends, residents and visitors of all ages to experience summer fishing in Saskatchewan’s beautiful environment.”

Regular angling limits and all other sport fishing laws remain in effect.
All anglers, including youth under the age of 16, and seniors 65 years of age and older who will be angling on Lac La Ronge, must have a Lac La Ronge endorsement and harvest ledger. These may be obtained for free through private issuers, Ministry of Environment and select provincial park offices.

Free fishing weekend does not apply in national parks, and anyone planning to take fish out of the province must purchase a licence.

More information about fishing in Saskatchewan can be found in the 2016 Anglers’ Guide, available wherever angling licences are sold, or online at
www.saskatchewan.ca/fishing."

  - The Preeceville Works Department is again remaining people to please water in the early morning or evenings on hot days. " If you irrigate in the middle of the day, evaporation prevents 14 percent of the water from reaching the plants’ roots. Watering the lawn in the early morning or evening can save the typical home owner 87 gallons a week"
