This week we focus on:  Saskatchewan Tourism Week

Saskatchewan Tourism Week is May 31st to June 6th this year and is a great time to remind our  citizens about the economic impact of tourism throughout the province and in our small towns. Tourism engages people in every community, large or small, throughout our province. It is an important economic sector in Saskatchewan. Total traveller expenditures in the province are over $1.7 billion each year. Tourism employs more than 58,000 people within Saskatchewan so in Preeceville that would be around 60 people. Dollars spent in our town would be over 3 million each year.

This week we focus on:  Building Permits
What is a Building Permit?
"A building permit is a licence which grants legal permission to start construction of a building. Permits allow the enforcement of codes, standards, and bylaws which have been adopted by the local or provincial governing body. The enforcement of the building code standards and bylaws is carried out to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. The governing body which enforces the code is acting to assure safe construction"
 Why a Building Permit?
"A building permit provides the means for building officials to protect the public by reducing the potential hazards of unsafe construction and is therefore ensuring public health, safety, and welfare. A building permit helps the public understand what the local or provincial laws are in relation to the construction of a building. Before any construction or any remodelling work begins applications for a permit should be made. The building permit provides the means for the building official to inspect construction, ensure minimum standards are met, and appropriate materials are used"
