Read: Letter from Brad Wall to PIHC Action Committee.   Back ground:

Watch your mail box for a update on how the health system works in Preeceville as of June 1st

And again thanks for your questions.

Primary healthcare (PHC) refers to "essential health care" that is based on scientifically sound and socially acceptable methods and technology, which make universal health care accessible to all individuals and families in a community

Healthcare costs per capita vary across Canada with Quebec ($4,891) and British Columbia ($5,254) at the lowest level and Alberta ($6,072) and Newfoundland ($5,970) at the highest.[24] It is also the greatest at the extremes of age at a cost of $17,469 per capita in those older than 80 and $8,239 for those less than 1 year old in comparison to $3,809 for those between 1 and 64 years old in 2007.[24]

2012 saw a record year for number of doctors with 75,142. The gross average salary was $328,000. Out of the gross amount, doctors pay for taxes, rent, staff salaries and equipment.[14]Recent reports indicate that Canada may be heading toward an excess of doctors,[15] though communities in rural, remote and northern regions, and some specialties, may still experience a shortage.[16]

PREECEVILLE AND AREA YOU SHOULD BE PROUD! Report from May 26th

‎After meeting with  the leader of the Opposition,  the Premier, the Minister of Rural and Remote Health, and our local MLA I can tell you our efforts have been noticed and appreciated.

‎Your continued efforts are vital. Keep making noise but do it respectively.  Rest assured, we have been heard.

A big thank you too our neighboring communities and everyone right across Canada for their words of encouragement and support. Your ideas and contacts have been extremely beneficial.

The outcome  that you are looking for is being supported and worked on by all levels of government. This is not a quick fix but rest assured it can and will be done.

As I stated last week, keep asking your questions and doing what your doing. It is working!

Action plan from last week, May 19th, 2016:
"Thank you for caring about our health system"
After meeting/talking to over 35 people yesterday it is very clear people are upset and feel they are seeing a systematic reduction in services at our hospital.

Don't let anyone tell you that you shouldn't feel like that. You do and that is important to both myself and all our town and rural councils.

There are people writing petitions that you can sign. Petitions need to be written in a style that can be acted on by the petitioned to have the impact you are looking for. Any legal  petition stating the need for additional Doctors or improvement in health care ‎I would be the first to sign.

That are people heading out to the legislature this morning to voice their concerns. Please support them.

You can contact all the powers that be. Government, health region, towns, RM's and/or myself.

Like any problem, get it on the table and talk out it until you have a acceptable outcome. That starts with the facts. We can disagree without being disagreeable, all views and ideas have value when trying to reach a goal.

I am hearing the need for a town hall meeting. I will be there to help facilitate and help where I can.

Again thanks for caring and all your questions. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Invasive Species - Preeceville's Main Street with the Mayor Garth Harris for Thursday May 12th, 2016 8:35 am

Working Draft for:
Preeceville's Main Street with the Mayor Garth Harris for Thursday May 12th, 2016 8:35 am

With GX94's Craig Wallebeck > see him @
http://www.gx94radio.com/craig-wallebeck
This week we focus on: Invasive Species

"Invader species such as whirling disease, zebra mussels, eurasian water milfoil and purple loosestrife have been found in Saskatchewan or pose a real threat of becoming established here.

Help Protect Our Waters: Stop Aquatic Invasive Species

Aquatic invasive species (AIS) threaten aquatic habitats, fisheries and valuable recreational resources. They can spread through water or by attaching to watercraft, related equipment and gear, and aquatic plants.

You can help stop the spread by remembering to practice: CLEAN, DRAIN, DRY

Before returning home from out of province, coming to visit or moving between waters within the province – please follow these important steps to help protect Saskatchewan waters.
CLEAN and inspect the watercraft, trailer, equipment and all gear that made contact with the water.
Remove all visible plants, animals and mud. Scrub/scrape grainy surfaces that feel like sandpaper, as this could be young mussels too small to see.
Wash, scrub or rinse using high pressure, hot tap water preferably 50oC (120 oF) – away from storm drains, ditches and waterways.
Inspect the watercraft, trailer and vehicle.
DRAIN all on-board water from the motor, livewell, bilge, and ballast tanks. Flush with hot tap water away from storm drains, ditches and waterways. Then leave plugs out during transport and storage.
DRY your watercraft, equipment and all related gear completely, preferably for at least five days while leaving compartments open to dry.

And remember to DISPOSE of all unwanted bait in the trash. Never release leftover leeches or crayfish, aquarium pets, plants or water into our lakes, rivers or wetlands.

Clean | Drain | Dry Factsheet

Watch our 30 second Clean - Drain - Dry Public Service Announcement

Report any sightings to the nearest Ministry of Environment office or call the TIP Line 1-800-667-7561.

 Zebra and Quagga Mussels

Zebra and quagga mussels are two aquatic invasive species that everyone should be aware of. These invasive mussels threaten aquatic habitats, fisheries, recreational resources and water-based infrastructure that could cost Saskatchewan millions of dollars a year. Every time you leave the water please follow the steps of CLEAN, DRAIN, DRY.

Zebra and Quagga Mussels Fact Sheet

Prohibited Aquatic Fish in Saskatchewan

Amendments to The Fisheries Regulations now prohibit Saskatchewan residents and visitors from importing, possessing, transporting or selling aquiatic invasive species that are considered to be a potentially significant risk to Saskatchewan waters. For a list of prohibited fish, [click here].

Northern Snakehead

The Ministry of Environment is asking the public not to purchase a specific species of fish called the northern snakehead, which has been found available at local pet stores in the province.

Northern Snakehead Fact Sheet

Eurasian Water Milfoil

Eurasian water milfoil is a non-native aquatic plant that chokes out native plants and spreads rapidly to new areas. This weed stops water flow, displaces native plants, covers spawning habitats used by fish and affects waterbased recreation. These weeds can be introduced from fish livewells or boat propellors.

Purple Loosestrife

Purple loosestrife has already invaded many wetlands and major waterways of the prairies. The plant chokes out shoreline and wetland plants and fills in open areas. It eventually creates a dense purple landscape almost totally devoid of wildlife. To report the sighting of purple loosestrife, [click here].
