Working Draft for:

This week we focus on: STARS Refueling Trailer
"The Preeceville Fire Department has recently received approval from STARS to become a mobile refuelling station. With access to mobile refueling, STARS is able to extend its area of coverage. In the last few years, STARS has completed many emergency transters from the Preeceville Hospital, which often meant waiting for fuel to be deliverd from Kelvington, or the helicopter stopping in Yorkton to refuel. The Preeceville Fire Department is in the process of purchasing the trailer and equipment and are looking for donation to help offset the costs. If you would like to assist by making a contribution, please call Trevor at 306-547-8016 or Cliff at 306-547-7730."
Preeceville is on the edge for the range for fuel for these choppers and with this refuelling station it will cut down on travel time in an emergency.  The department is looking for donations of  $500 with the total cost of the project at $6000 and are looking for approximately 10-12 sponsors to make this refuelling system a go.  They also plan is to get a vehicle wrap for the tailer with a big STARS logo on the side as well as all sponsors who have donated money towards the purchase of it.

"This map shows the approximate time it takes for a BK117 or AW139 helicopter to be dispatched from one of our bases and fly to a particular area of the country. AW139 data is shown for Calgary, Edmonton and Saskatoon, as these bases operate this aircraft type alongside the BK117. The type of aircraft selected for a mission depends on a variety of factors, and is made in consultation with our transport physicians and pilots.
A STARS helicopter is not necessarily used to respond to all incidents. Ground ambulance and airplane ambulance are other options which are taken into consideration when selecting the most appropriate emergency medical transportation. Flight times and the decision to transport by STARS helicopters are affected by a variety of factors including weather conditions, availability of resources, location of landing sites, and the condition of the patient.
An emergency physician with a background in transport medicine selects the most appropriate option and oversees the care of the patient during transport"

"An art group refers to an association of artists who may work (or live) communally, for the purpose of facilitating the creation of art, either that belonging to the individual, or the collective.
Art groups typically were formed by established artists, such as Andy Warhol, as hired assistants to the artist, operating collectively under the artist's studio. More recently, art groups have been formed by unknown artists, pooling their limited resources toward the collective goal.
Groups have formed as political action groups, to work on political advocacy projects, while other groups formed simply for reasons of working and living in an environment conducive to the peculiar interests of artists. In this context, some groups began to create collective works of art, music, writing, etc., under the name of their group"

Birding - Preeceville's Main Street with the Mayor for Thursday Aug 6th, 2015 8:35 am

Working Draft for:
Preeceville's Main Street with the Mayor for Thursday Aug 6th, 2015 8:35 am

With GX94's Craig Wallebeck > see him @
http://www.gx94radio.com/craig-wallebeck
This week we focus on: Birding

In Preeceville there are many types of birds who are non-migratory and you can observe them year-round. You may be surprised at what you may encounter!
For the most educational and interesting birding trip, we boast approximately 190 species of birds in this area. You can follow the routes on the map for sightseeing of waterbirds (aerialists, swimmers, wading birds, shorebirds, upland waterbirds), landbirds (nocturnal, aerialists, ground-walkers, tree-climbers) and perching landbirds (flycatching bills, curved bills, straight bills and conical bills).
The map trails also provide roadside sightings for a variety of species of butterflies, plants and wildflowers, mammals and woodlands. Trails are suggested routes for birding by road; most roads are all-weather roads with exceptions noted. Areas marked with letters are major birding areas (lakes for water fowl, etc.). Numbered sites are minor birding sites.
Caution: Drive at your own risk. Please keep off private lands along the route, unless permission has been granted to do so. Wildlife Development Fund Lands permit hiking.
Best birding is during the spring and fall migration. Birding in the summer in the early mornings and early evenings is also very productive. GPS readings are provided as a guide for many of the sites.
Kelsey Ecological Society meets the third Wednesday of each month (except December and January) at 7:30 PM in the Court Room of the Preeceville Town Office Building. Membership in Kelsey Ecological Society is open to everyone who has an interest in nature and ecology.
