Heath Care Awareness - Preeceville's Main Street with the Mayor for Thursday July 23rd, 2015 8:35 am

Working Draft for:
Preeceville's Main Street with the Mayor for Thursday July 23rd, 2015 8:35 am

With GX94's Craig Wallebeck > see him @
http://www.gx94radio.com/craig-wallebeck
This week we focus on:  Health Care Awareness
Today I want to discuss health care in Preeceville and the surrounding areas. The Town Council has been diligently working to recruit a doctor for Preeceville since before  Dr. Kabongo's last day. It was satisfying to hear the praise Dr. Kabongo had for both Preeceville and the Sunrise Health Region during our meeting with him before his departure. We thank Dr. Kabongo for his hard work and dedication throughout his many years of practice in Preeceville. Though we could not convince Dr. Kabongo to stay, we want him to know that he will be missed and we wish him well on his new path in Regina. I also want to dispel the rumors that the hospital is closing. The hospital is not closing and contrary to many rumors we are in talks with the Sunrise Health Region to have a new Doctor in place as soon as possible. We live in Rural Saskatchewan but that does not mean that we should not have the benefits of larger centers and adequate health care is essential for the well being of not only Preeceville but all of our surrounding communities as well.  There must be a balance between “I live in a remote rural area” and a Health Care Model that is at a National standard.

Health care is concerning and the Town Council takes this very seriously as we are as affected as all of you. Our hospital and in Preeceville is next to none and we want it to running optimally,  I am committed to having our citizens understand the Health Care System before they have to access it.
I have spoken to many of you since the new year and have taken your questions to the meeting I had with Sunrise staff a month ago. You can read both the questions and answers about the Preeceville Primary Health Care Clinic; Dated July 17th, 2015 @ Preeceville& District Health Centre (follow links on page for Questions & Answers about the Preeceville Primary Health Care Clinic & Emergency Service Interruption information) You can find the link on our town web site.
Things have changed regarding the way the clinic works so I think everyone should read the post. Please forward any additional questions your may have to me and we will have answers once I group like questions together and get them off to Sunrise.
This September we will start work on my Healthy Preeceville Plan which has a number of benchmark goals and priority items all focused around health care awareness. I am always available to hear any concerns or comments you may have.
Events:
- Summer Fun Program is running till August 19, Monday and Wednesday, Preeceville Legion Hall, Ages 5 - 12 are welcome, runs 10 am - 12 noon and 1 - 3 pm. Free to attend. For more information call Karolyn @ 306-548-5478

Our strength as a community is how we provide for our seniors and how we teach our youth balanced with quality of life for the rest of our population. World class Hospital, Telehealth, Dr.’s RN’s and paramedical personal. Add that to the broader teams of health care professionals and I am confident we will meet any challenges before us, ensuring that quality of life we all want. I am not looking for the four Doctor minimum (24-7) model but one that every small town or remote northern area could have. Everything in place, just not manned until needed. Working Draft for:
Preeceville's Main Street with the Mayor for Thursday July 16th, 2015 8:35 am

With GX94's Craig Wallebeck > see him @
http://www.gx94radio.com/craig-wallebeck
This week we focus on:  Community Green Spaces
This first part is Public lands
Community green spaces include all lands owned by the town. Open space areas include right of ways, boulevards, parks, pathways, floodplains, roadway medians, buffer strips, public walkways, and some utility parcels of land. Each community is mandated to have a percentage of all land used as green spaces. No one shall cause or allow an encroachment or amenity of any kind to be placed on these green spaces without the approval of the town. (Parking or storing anything)
No person in a park or open space area shall:

Use a park, park property or open space area other than for its intended use
Build a structure

Park, or store any vehicle or trailer
Dump, discard or place garbage, plant material or grass clippings

(Add to this list any local problems you may have)

This second part deals with private lands within the town or Rural Municipality:

Trespass Act - http://www.justice.gov.sk.ca/Trespass-to-Property-Act updated in 2007

"The Act makes it an offence, without lawful authority, to:
  • enter onto posted or enclosed lands or other premises without the consent of the owner or other occupier;
  • enter onto lands or other premises, even if not posted or enclosed, after being requested not to do so by the owner or other occupier;
  • engage in prohibited activities on the lands or other premises without the consent of the owner or other occupier;
  • fail to leave lands or other premises, or to discontinue an activity, after being requested to do so by the owner or other occupier; and
  • after leaving lands or other premises or discontinuing an activity pursuant to the request of an owner or other occupier, return to the lands or other premises or resume the activities.

Persons contravening the Act are liable on summary conviction to a fine of up to $2,000. "
So it's get approval before you go or use public or private lands and use them for what they were intended for only.
