This week we focus on: Health Care Awareness
Today I want to discuss health care in Preeceville and the surrounding areas. The Town Council has been diligently working to recruit a doctor for Preeceville since before Dr. Kabongo's last day. It was satisfying to hear the praise Dr. Kabongo had for both Preeceville and the Sunrise Health Region during our meeting with him before his departure. We thank Dr. Kabongo for his hard work and dedication throughout his many years of practice in Preeceville. Though we could not convince Dr. Kabongo to stay, we want him to know that he will be missed and we wish him well on his new path in Regina. I also want to dispel the rumors that the hospital is closing. The hospital is not closing and contrary to many rumors we are in talks with the Sunrise Health Region to have a new Doctor in place as soon as possible. We live in Rural Saskatchewan but that does not mean that we should not have the benefits of larger centers and adequate health care is essential for the well being of not only Preeceville but all of our surrounding communities as well. There must be a balance between “I live in a remote rural area” and a Health Care Model that is at a National standard.
Health care is concerning and the Town Council takes this very seriously as we are as affected as all of you. Our hospital and in Preeceville is next to none and we want it to running optimally, I am committed to having our citizens understand the Health Care System before they have to access it. I have spoken to many of you since the new year and have taken your questions to the meeting I had with Sunrise staff a month ago. You can read both the questions and answers about the Preeceville Primary Health Care Clinic; Dated July 17th, 2015 @ Preeceville& District Health Centre (follow links on page for Questions & Answers about the Preeceville Primary Health Care Clinic & Emergency Service Interruption information) You can find the link on our town web site.
Things have changed regarding the way the clinic works so I think everyone should read the post. Please forward any additional questions your may have to me and we will have answers once I group like questions together and get them off to Sunrise.
This September we will start work on my Healthy Preeceville Plan which has a number of benchmark goals and priority items all focused around health care awareness. I am always available to hear any concerns or comments you may have.
