Many people have heard of a corn maze we would like to welcome you to Preeceville’s snow maze. This is being constructed for the Children’s Winter Festival which is being held in conjunction with the mushers rendezvous. This is a great fun activity for kids of all ages. This project is right on schedule and is creating a lot of buzz. The grade 3 students will be helping out by decorating the maze with some snow graffiti. We will have other crafts done by the students displayed in the maze area as well so please come out and look at these great displays.
A free family fun skate is being held at the skating arena from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Everyone is welcome. The town crew is working hard on the sliding hill for the tobogganing competitions. The tobogganing races will be held on Saturday at 1:00 pm. The hill is located beside the arena and the sliding path is going in the North West direction away from the parking lot to ensure the safety of the children. We are very fortunate to have great support from our hockey coaches and on Sunday Feb 1st there is going to be a hockey skills competition from 11:30 to 1:30. This is a way to test different skills that the hockey players work very hard on throughout the season. We have held a competition like this in the past and it is a lot of fun for the kids. This will be open to kids of all ages. There is a 4 on 4 rec hockey tournament that is also being held on Saturday and Sunday after the other rink activities. It is a $20 entry fee per player and is open to bantam aged players and older. You can enter your own team with a maximum of 10 players or enter as an individual and you be placed on a team. Goalies will be available if needed. Contact Mark at 547-8417 or the Preeeceville Arena at 547-3267.

The Town is very excited about the first ever photo competition being held in Preeceville as part of the winter festival. There is 2 parts to this challenge. Kids of all ages will be asked to participate in a competition that will run from the weekend of Jan 16 until contest closing of Jan 26th. There are 3 categories which are as follows: winter wonderland, family and friends, and an action category. A Facebook page is being created for entries Frosty Fun Snaps and Shots 2015. Most kids have some form of technology available to them and is a very easy way to involve everyone with no cost. Winning photos will be displayed over the weekend at the hall and arena. The second part of the competition is limited to the musher’s weekend. This is open to kids of all ages and to the general public. The categories for the weekend event are winter wonderland, dogs and or dogsled team, and family and friends. This part of competition is different as these photos must be in taken on that weekend and must have some relevance to the weekend activities.
